The J. Robison Team

Once upon a time, I was a photographer just starting out in the business, working for family and friends, easily managing my career as a solo act. As word of my photography spread to lands far and wide, I realized I needed a team to support me. Today, the J. Robison team lives happily ever after, working together to ensure your story gets told.

Julie Robison

Owner | Photographer

My Mantra: Do something every day that scares you. That’s when you truly start living.

Theme Song: “She Works Hard for the Money”

Current Superpower: My current superpower is telling amazing stories using only images.

Fun Fact: My favorite sport to watch is MMA.

My Bizarre Job Before J. Robison: I worked in a tattoo studio in my late teens. I first started out as a shop girl and then tried my hand at tattooing.

What Else?

From simply admiring photos as a child to later picking up photography as a hobby in my teens to honing my photography skills on sessions for family and friends to eventually growing my clientele into the flourishing business it is today, I have always appreciated photography as a way to capture the most unique and beautifully-written story anyone could ever tell...the art of it all...the photos you can’t help but look at.

I consider myself to be a lifelong learner, continually striving to educate myself on the art of portraiture, which has allowed me to exceed clients’ artistic expectations. I can’t wait to get you in front of my lens, creating not only beautiful images and capturing your story, but also creating an amazing adventure along the way! After all, YOU are the reason I do this work!

When I’m not busy telling your stories, Dusty, Ahna, Crosby and I enjoy outdoor adventuring and creating art and music together.

Abbie Sullivan

Portrait Manager

My Mantra: The answer is always ‘no’ until you ask.

Theme Song: "Right Hand Man”

Current Superpower: I'm able to bore people into submission by providing waaaay too many details.

Fun Fact: I met my husband at a Ryan Adams concert that I almost didn’t go to.

My Bizarre Job Before J. Robison: I repaired books in the basement of Melick Library at Eureka College while I was a student there.

What Else?

I have held several client-focused positions in large corporations, and I welcomed the opportunity to join the J. Robison team to focus on clients among a collaborative, creative and caring small business team.

I live in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood with my husband, Matt, and our 5-year-old son, Aiden. In our free time, we enjoy live music and spending time outdoors.

What’s something fun Julie’s clients should know about her?

Julie is the only person I know who can (or at least could) do backflips in real life.

Becky Ulrich

Real Estate Manager

My Mantra: I don’t think outside of the box; I think about what I could do with the box.

Theme Song: “Lunch Lady Land”

Current Superpower: I possess x-ray vision to see through B.S.

Fun Fact: I spent 20% of my life as a cheerleader.

My Bizarre Job Before J. Robison: This is less on the bizarre side and more on the humorous side due to the length of employment. I worked as a waitress at Red Lobster for one day...until they told me I would have to sample all of the food, and my hatred of seafood trumped the paycheck!

What Else?

After working in Corporate America for 8 years, I took some time off to expand my family and stay home with my three littles, which I lovingly refer to as "The Zoo." When the opportunity presented itself to join the J. Robison team, I was excited to get back into the swing of things by joining a fun, flexible and dedicated team.

Outside of work, when my husband, Matt, and I are not busy attending Toby, Carly and Cooper’s events and activities, we enjoy spending time with friends, gardening and working on home improvement projects. We don’t have much time for spending time with friends, gardening or working on home improvement projects.

What’s something fun Julie’s clients should know about her?

As a senior in high school, Julie was voted ‘best smile’ by her classmates, and now she gets to capture yours!

My Mantra: Be your best for the greater good, and rock out wherever you are.

Current Superpower: I have the power to teleport myself to the exact same location. Boom!

Fun Fact: I can play the tuba.

My Bizarre Job Before J. Robison: My very first job was working on a rabbit farm where I cleaned cages and helped to breed rabbits.

What Else?

I have always had a passion for helping small businesses succeed, and I have been fortunate to work with many small businesses over the years. When I had the opportunity to join the J. Robison team, working alongside people whom I have known most of my life, I jumped on it! While the majority of my work is done behind the scenes, I enjoy getting to see all of the stories that come through in all of Julie’s photos. Working on this team has been such an all-around positive experience.

My wife, Trisha, and 3 of our 4 children live in Germantown Hills. When we are not attending the kids' activities, which is a rarity, we enjoy traveling and going to concerts.

What’s something fun Julie’s clients should know about her?

Julie once played a murderer in a high school play that â…˜ of the J. Robison team also starred in.

Accountant

My Mantra: Life is like accounting...everything must be in balance.

Theme Song: “Three is a Magic Number”

Current Superpower: My superpower of 'Googling it' allows me to be the smartest person in the room at all times.

Fun Fact: I enjoy strolling through the aisles of Target so much that I can tell you the aisle number for almost any item they sell.

My Bizarre Job Before J. Robison: I grew up on my family’s farm where they bred horses. For a few summers in high school, in addition to taking care of the animals, I helped breed the horses.

What Else?

I have worked in the accounting field for the past 8 years. I love that this field allows me to help small business owners achieve their financial goals by providing custom accounting services to fit their needs. Joining the J. Robison team felt like a perfect fit!

My husband, Cam, our 2-year old son, Phillip, and I enjoy camping, dance parties in the living room and spending time outdoors.

What’s something fun Julie’s clients should know about her?

Not only is Julie a fantastic photographer, but she also genuinely cares about her clients. This is why she's so good at telling their stories!
