Johnny Sue's moms, Amanda and Jess, waited and hoped their way through more than two years of IVF to finally meet her. Amanda reached out to me to ask me to capture Johnny Sue's 6-month and 12-month portraits. Here we get to enjoy her 6-month session. As I always say, and as we all know, babies change so quickly during their first year, which makes these milestone sessions that much more valuable. I think new parents find it particularly amazing.
Amanda and I hit it off right away. She’s a mountain girl who loves everything Colorado and skiing…and I was probably born in the wrong state. She and Jess just built a new "mountain" home in Morton that looks like it belongs among the Colorado Rockies, where Johnny Sue has a room in jewel-toned abstract mountains. Amanda also recently launched a new business, Blue Summit Aesthetics & Wellness based in Morton, and she also brought sweet little Johnny Sue into the world...all in the same year. She's pretty much the definition of a "go-getter" in my book!
Johnny Sue is a picture-perfect baby and has a lovely personality to match! She's now sitting up and rolling from tummy to back. Her mamas are so proud of her! Jess is a teacher, so the transition to full-time mama and caregiver at home was natural and seamless. Instead of working with other people's children, she now gets the reward of taking care of her own child...little Johnny Sue. It certainly comes as no surprise to learn that Mama J is spoiling Johnny Sue the most (with Amanda's parents, Mugga and Pugga, coming in at a close second).
When asked if Johnny Sue has any favorite songs or music, Amanda joked that Johnny Sue seems to like anything she makes up...and, apparently, whale songs as evidenced in her loud and high-pitch "singing" voice. Amanda and Jess love seeing how Johnny Sue tries to communicate with them, and they are really enjoying how funny she is already becoming. And, as babies tend to do, Amanda also shared that Johnny Sue has managed to make their family's love bond even stronger. I'm grateful to capture this moment in their journey!
